AUGUSTA, Maine, October 16, 2018 ----- This week, The Wilderness Society Action Fund is launching radio ads in Maine that detail Rep. Bruce Poliquin’s congressional voting record of siding with polluters.

Poliquin has voted to roll back safeguards for clean air and water, which would threaten the health of Maine’s residents. Specifically, Poliquin has:

*voted against setting limits on methane pollution and protections from mercury and arsenic pollution;
*voted to eliminate drinking water protections from the Clean Water Act;
*voted to block the clean power plan;
*voted against common-sense conservation for America’s parks, forests and wildlife.

Statement from Jeremy Sheaffer, Maine State Director, The Wilderness Society Action Fund:
“Despite deep political divides, Maine voters from all backgrounds strongly value clean air and water. As voters go to the polls, they should know the record of their representative. Bruce Poliquin’s record is clear. Time and again, he sides with fossil fuel interests over protecting our parks, wildlife refuges, and forests – lands that belong to all Americans and provide pure drinking water and clean air. This November, the most important hike Mainers can take is to the polls.”

The text of the radio spot follows:

“With the foliage and cool temperatures, fall in Maine is the perfect time to get out for a hike.
 But this November, the most important hike you can take is to the polls.
 That’s because Congressman Bruce Poliquin is failing to protect our environment and our health.
 Poliquin voted against setting limits on methane pollution and safeguarding against mercury and arsenic
 But it doesn’t end there.
 Poliquin voted to eliminate drinking water protections from the Clean Water Act.
 He even voted to block the clean power plan and against common-sense conservation for America’s parks, forests and wildlife.
 Bruce Poliquin’s voting record is hard to defend.
 But if you follow the money pouring into his campaign, it’s easy to explain.
 Poliquin has taken more than $125,000 from the oil and gas industry.
 Cutting taxes for the wealthy and corporations, while voting against the health and safety of Maine people.
 That’s the Poliquin record.
 On November 6, let’s tell Bruce Poliquin to take a hike.”
